The incident occurred at the River Glen of St. Charles senior living facility, where witnesses reported a shirtless man with a chain saw attempting to cut down a tree before entering the building and confronting residents. Despite attempts to deescalate the situation, police used a stun gun which was ineffective, leading an officer to use a firearm to shoot the man. The man was pronounced dead at Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital, and his identity has not been released.
