Massachusetts women’s organizations prepared to mobilize in response to second Trump administration


Women’s advocacy groups in Massachusetts are preparing for another Trump presidency by gearing up for mobilization efforts. There are fears of nationwide bans on women’s rights, such as abortion and contraception, under a Trump administration. Lora Pellegrini, president of the Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus, expressed shock at the election results and called for mobilization to educate women on the risks at stake.

GBH will host a forum with the Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus on female leadership post-2024 election, while the ACLU of Massachusetts is ready to work on protecting freedoms and access to reproductive health care. Following Trump’s 2016 election, a record number of women marched, ran for office, and were elected, showing perseverance in the fight for women’s equality.

Barbara Lee, founder of the Barbara Lee Family Foundation, emphasized the need for patience and perseverance in the movement for women’s equality. The Women’s March is holding a mass call for healing and justice, although plans for another march have not been officially released.

With efforts to educate and mobilize women on the potential threats to their rights, advocacy groups are gearing up to protect freedoms and access to healthcare in Massachusetts and beyond in the face of another Trump presidency.
