A Boston Public Schools custodian, Gregory Watford, pleaded not guilty to assaulting and seriously injuring three former colleagues at the Mildred Avenue K–8 School in Mattapan. The incident occurred in October, resulting in broken bones for the victims. Watford faces charges of assault and battery causing serious bodily injury. The violence erupted as Watford allegedly attacked the custodians, blaming them for costing him money. The school’s safety officer intervened, sustaining a fractured clavicle in the process. Watford fled the scene but was later arrested. The judge released him on personal recognizance with GPS monitoring and ordered him to stay away from the school and the victims. The Suffolk District Attorney expressed concern over the violent incident, emphasizing the importance of schools being safe zones for both staff and students. Watford is scheduled to appear in court again in January. Boston Public Schools have been contacted for comment on Watford’s employment and the incident.
