Marcus Smart is disappointed by being ‘blindsided,’ but remains proud of the Celtics

In a recent press conference, Marcus Smart reflected on the trade that sent him from the Boston Celtics to the Memphis Grizzlies, calling it a “great trade, business-wise.” Smart expressed that while he would have liked to have been informed ahead of time, he understands the nature of the business and holds no grudges. The trade allowed the Celtics to acquire Kristaps Porzingis and ultimately led them to win their first championship since 2008.

Smart emphasized that he would have made the same move himself and commended the Celtics organization for their success. Despite not playing in Boston last year as a Grizzly, Smart is expected to take the court at TD Garden for the first time as a visitor. He expressed pride in the Celtics’ accomplishments and stated that he is happy for his former teammates. Smart also confirmed that he is ready to play in the upcoming game, despite sustaining a minor injury in practice.
