When can we anticipate the announcement of election outcomes in Massachusetts?

As Americans prepare to head to the polls to choose the next president of the United States, Massachusetts election clerks have already started tabulating early voting and mail-in ballots, with over 1.7 million out of 5.1 million registered voters having already cast their votes. The results of these ballots will be available shortly after polls close on election night, with the Associated Press receiving counts of all in-person and mail-in votes. Most races, including Senator Elizabeth Warren’s, may be called within minutes of 8 p.m., while others, such as the ballot questions on legalizing psychedelic drugs and dropping the high school exit exam requirement, may take longer. In the event of a recount, late-arriving mail-in and overseas ballots could be crucial.

WBUR will have reporters across Massachusetts on Election Day and throughout the night to provide the most up-to-date information. Their live special election coverage will begin at 7 p.m., with race calls available on their website. The Mass. Politics newsletter will be back on Wednesday morning to recap the results. The excitement of another Election Night is shared by all, and everyone is encouraged to get out and vote.
