New Venue Great Scott in Allston Reveals Details

Great Scott, a historic rock club in Boston, is set to reopen nearly four years after closing due to the pandemic. The new location will be at 1 Harvard Ave, just two blocks away from its original spot. The reopening is the result of a deal among longtime talent buyer Carl Lavin, Redefined CEO and Boston Music Awards producer Paul Armstrong, and real estate developer Jordan Warshaw.

The revamped venue will include a Great Scott venue with a capacity for 300 people, as well as the retention and reconstruction of the 75-capacity O’Brien’s Pub. Additionally, there will be 139 residential units on top of the venue. The project aims to promote emerging musicians and support the urban music ecosystem in Boston.

The 17,870-square-foot project site is located in Allston Village, and the building will incorporate best practices in energy efficiency and climate resiliency. Design plans include an updated take on Great Scott’s old signature green awning to reflect the performances inside. Overall, the project will not only revive a beloved music venue but also contribute to addressing the city’s housing crisis.
