The Jets reportedly willing to make offer to Mike Vrabel

The New England Patriots made a quick move in their head coaching search, hiring Mike Vrabel just a week after firing Jerod Mayo. The decision to act swiftly may have prevented Vrabel from joining a division rival or the Dallas Cowboys. After interviewing with the Jets, New York was ready to give Vrabel complete roster control, while Dallas also expressed interest in him before parting ways with Mike McCarthy.

Vrabel, who previously worked for the Browns, was released from his contract early to interview with teams looking for a new head coach. The Patriots wasted no time after firing Mayo, interviewing and officially hiring Vrabel within a week. Vrabel will be the final decision-maker in New England, with the assistance of executive vice president Eliot Wolf and Giants executive Ryan Cowden.

Other teams, including the Cowboys, also had their eye on Vrabel, but New England secured him as their next head coach. With the coaching carousel in full swing, Vrabel’s appointment brings stability to the Patriots’ sidelines as they look to build on their success in the upcoming season.
