Thunderbirds end weekend on a high note, defeating Wolf Pack 4-2

The Springfield Thunderbirds secured a 4-2 victory against the Hartford Wolf Pack on Sunday, earning five out of a possible six standings points over the weekend. Matt Kessel and Nikita Alexandrov were instrumental in setting the tone for the game, with Kessel scoring early in the first period and Alexandrov contributing a goal shortly after. Despite a strong push from Hartford, goaltender Colten Ellis was solid in net, making 40 saves to secure the win.

The game was tied 2-2 in the final period when Matthew Peca scored a crucial power play goal to give the Thunderbirds a one-goal lead. Despite Hartford’s persistent efforts, the Thunderbirds’ defense held strong, with Ellis making key saves to preserve the lead. Hugh McGing sealed the victory with an empty-net goal. Ellis improved to 5-0 against Hartford with this win.

The Thunderbirds will now enjoy a well-deserved break before heading to Iowa for a two-game series against the Wild at Wells Fargo Arena.
