The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested three members of the Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang in Texas and Nashville, as the new administration continues its efforts to deport illegal immigrants. Nestor Jose Mendoza-Garcia was apprehended in San Antonio, Texas, while Elmer Aparicio-Castillo and another man were arrested in Nashville. These arrests came after the suspects allegedly entered the country illegally last year and were processed by the Biden administration. President Donald Trump has praised ICE for going after criminals with charges or convictions for serious offenses including rape, child sexual assault, terrorism, and murder.
Mendoza-Garcia was previously arrested by the San Antonio Police Department for possessing a gun linked to an unsolved murder. A federal arrest warrant was issued for him for being an alien in possession of a gun, revealing his active involvement with the gang. Aparicio-Castillo was also arrested for the same charge and has a criminal history that includes evading arrest, promoting prostitution, and drug possession.
The arrests are part of the new administration’s push to deport criminal illegal immigrants with ties to dangerous gangs like Tren de Aragua and MS-13. President Trump has criticized the gang, calling them as “bloodthirsty” as MS-13. The White House has also confirmed that deportation flights have begun as ICE continues its efforts to remove dangerous criminals from the country.
