The MIAA’s ice hockey committee met to discuss upcoming changes and improvements for the tournament season. Richard Pearson introduced Bob Ware as the new Ice Hockey Tournament Director and Mike Flaherty as a new committee member. Ware plans to bring back historic playoff sites like the Chelmsford Forum. The committee focused on the divisive topic of the Super 8 tournament, with questions raised about the value and pattern of dominance. Most coaches agreed that a possible Div. 1A tournament should be revisited, and the committee voted unanimously for further discussions. The committee’s thoughts will be passed back to the TMC for consideration. The committee also approved the format for the 2026 season with a unanimous vote. Ware emphasized the importance of letting the TMC analyze the data and make the best decision for the tournament. Overall, the committee’s goal is to continue improving the tournament experience for all participants.
