Trump plans to provide buyouts to all federal employees.

The Trump administration is offering federal employees the option to resign through a buyout program if they do not wish to return to in-person work at the office. The program would provide eight months of pay until September for those who resign by February 6. This offer is outlined in a memo from the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. President Trump recently signed an order requiring all federal workers to return to in-person work, although some are still allowed to work from home due to COVID-19 policies. The administration has also targeted federal employees deemed hostile to its policies, including firing Justice Department attorneys and putting U.S. Agency for International Development employees on leave. The cost and number of employees who may participate in the buyout program are not yet known. For more information, contact Joey Garrison on X @joeygarrison.
