A landslide in Jinping village in Sichuan province, China has resulted in more than 30 people missing, with ten houses buried and over 200 residents evacuated. President Xi Jinping has expressed concern and urged authorities to search for the missing and minimize casualties. Two people have been rescued, and 200 relocated, with emergency response teams on site to search for survivors. Premier Li Qiang has called for an investigation of potential geological hazards in nearby areas and for further evacuations of at-risk residents to prevent another disaster. The National Development and Reform Commission has allocated 50 million yuan from the central budget for emergency restoration efforts. Residents have reported seeing rocks rolling down the mountain in recent months, and geological inspections had been conducted in the area late last year. Authorities are continuing their search efforts amidst dangerous conditions as they work to locate and rescue missing individuals in the aftermath of the landslide in Yibin city.
