The Holyoke FTD Caregiver’s Support Group will be hosting their monthly virtual meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 11, from 4 to 5 p.m. This group is for caregivers of individuals with Frontotemporal Degeneration, a rare brain disease affecting those under 60 in the U.S. The purpose of the group is to share stories, ideas, and emotions related to FTD.
Rick’s Place is offering free peer grief support groups for youth and their caregivers, providing a place to remember loved ones and combat feelings of isolation. Virtual support groups for cancer patients and families will also be available in the coming months, led by an oncology social worker.
For those facing mental health challenges, NAMI of Western Massachusetts is offering online and phone support groups, as well as a new Family and Friends Support group for black and brown communities. In-person Family Support Group meetings in Greenfield have also resumed.
Additional support groups include the MJD Support Group in Ludlow, the Saint Rose de Lima Grief Support Group in Chicopee, and the Springfield College Occupational Therapy Department’s stroke support group.
