Lynn man Malachi Wright-Godfrey pleaded not guilty during his court arraignment after being accused of bringing a loaded weapon to Lynn Classical High School in December. Held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing, Wright-Godfrey is facing several felony and misdemeanor charges, including carrying a firearm without a license and assault and battery on a public employee. Scheduled to return to court for a hearing on March 4, the 18-year-old was arrested on Dec. 20, 2024, and indicted by a grand jury on Jan. 16. The Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker stated that Wright-Godfrey will remain in custody until the upcoming hearing. The incident has sparked concerns regarding school safety and the need for increased security measures in educational institutions. Local authorities are actively investigating the case to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff at Lynn Classical High School. The community is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. The court proceedings are ongoing, and further updates will be provided as the case develops.
