A dramatic cliffside rescue mission was captured on video in Laguna Beach, California on Monday, February 24, 2025. The footage, shared by the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA), shows the rescue operation of a young adult named Noah Kemp who found himself stuck on a cliff. Kemp had climbed 20 feet up a hill at the beach until he reached a steep point where he could not go any further.
Lifeguards were the first to arrive at the scene and used drones to evaluate the situation. The Laguna Beach Fire Department Administrative Captain Chip Gilmore explained that Kemp was about two thirds of the way up the cliff and was unable to move further. After communicating with Kemp over the phone, fire officials determined that a helicopter airlift would be necessary to rescue him.
The video shared by the OCFA shows a rescuer safely hoisting Kemp away from the cliff at Crescent Bay Beach. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the rescue operation. It is unclear why Kemp found himself stuck on the cliff, and USA TODAY has reached out to him for comment.
The dramatic footage provides a bird’s-eye view of the cliffside rescue mission, showcasing the coordinated efforts of lifeguards, fire officials, and a helicopter crew to safely rescue Kemp from the precarious situation he found himself in.
