Third defendant involved in high-end brothel network case admits guilt

A man from Torrance, Calif. has pleaded guilty to charges related to operating a high-end brothel network in Greater Boston and eastern Virginia. James Lee, 70, was involved in renting several high-end apartments that served as brothel locations, catering to wealthy and well-connected clients. Lee and his co-conspirators concealed the proceeds from the network by depositing cash into their personal bank accounts and making peer-to-peer transfers. Lee also fraudulently obtained over $580,000 in COVID-19 relief funds by using false loan applications and creating non-existent businesses. He faces multiple charges, including conspiracy to persuade individuals to engage in prostitution, money laundering, and wire fraud. Lee’s sentencing is scheduled for April 29. Two other individuals involved in the operation have also pleaded guilty and are awaiting sentencing. Despite sharing a last name, the three men are not related, prosecutors confirmed.
