Military Forces and Armored Vehicles Sent by Pentagon to Southern Border

Americans who are opposed to President Trump’s deportation operation are using social media to warn undocumented immigrants about potential ICE raids. In response to this, the Pentagon has ordered the deployment of up to 3,000 additional troops with armored vehicles to the southern border. This decision was made by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth at the direction of President Trump.

The troops, including a Stryker Brigade Combat Team and an aviation battalion, will be arriving in the coming weeks to support the Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials dealing with migrants at the border. These troops will set up observation posts, conduct patrols, and alert ICE officials of any breaches in the border, though they do not have the authority to make arrests. This deployment will add to the growing U.S. military presence at the border, with an additional 2,500 to 3,000 troops being sent.

President Trump declared a national emergency at the border to address immigration challenges, which were a key focus of his presidential campaign. Previous administrations have also sent active-duty troops to the border, but the Pentagon is taking further steps to increase the military presence. Plans are being made to potentially house up to 30,000 migrant detainees at military bases such as Fort Bliss in Texas and Fort Huachuca in Arizona. Officials at these bases are preparing tents and razor wire in anticipation of this influx of detainees.
