At a recent town hall, U.S. Rep. Seth Moulton criticized tech billionaire Elon Musk for his cuts to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, which will result in 80,000 job losses. Moulton, a former Marine, accused Musk of “killing veterans” with these cuts and vowed to stop them. He also expressed concerns about the impact on workers at the Veterans Crisis Line.
Moulton’s remarks were met with applause from constituents who criticized their representatives for not doing enough to counter President Trump’s downsizing efforts to fund tax cuts. Attendees, including students, demanded more action from Moulton to protect immigrant rights and change the conversation on immigration.
Moulton stated that his office is working to ensure that only those who deserve deportation are actually deported, intervening in many cases, and advocating for bipartisan immigration reform. He emphasized the need for Democrats to work on immigration issues, given the lack of Republican support.
One student, Dania Delacruz, whose parents are documented immigrants, raised concerns about threats to birthright citizenship. Delacruz urged for change in the conversation surrounding immigration and underscored the importance of protecting the rights of American children of immigrants. Moulton echoed her sentiments and called for bipartisan efforts to address immigration issues.
