The Boston Bruins are gearing up for a five-game road trip and have called up top prospects Fabian Lysell and Michael Callahan from the AHL’s Providence Bruins on an emergency basis. Lysell, a former first-round pick from Sweden, has 34 points in 51 games with Providence this season. This is his second call-up to the Bruins, with his previous stint being just one game in December. Callahan, a defense-first blueliner, returns after playing 11 games with Boston earlier in the year.
Both players were hoping to secure a spot on the Bruins’ roster during training camp but struggled and were sent back down to the AHL. With Boston still finalizing its lineup following the trade deadline, this is an opportunity for Lysell and Callahan to make an impact. Lysell will join the team on their trip starting in Vegas on Thursday, while Callahan aims to contribute his defensive skills to the Bruins’ lineup.
