18 Brazilian citizens in Massachusetts arrested for involvement in illegal gun sales, authorities confiscate 110 firearms

In a major crackdown on illegal gun sales in Massachusetts, the U.S. Attorney’s Office charged 18 Brazilian nationals with federal firearms offenses. The investigation, which spanned over a year, led to the seizure of more than 100 firearms believed to be linked to gang-related activities. The guns were connected to transnational criminal organizations such as Primeiro Comando da Capital, as well as local street gangs like “Tropa de Sete” and “Trem Bala.”

These criminal organizations are known for committing violent offenses, including murders, armed robberies, and drug trafficking. The firearms seized included handguns, rifles, and shotguns trafficked from Florida and South Carolina.

U.S. Attorney Leah Foley emphasized the role of illegal firearms in fueling violent crime, putting American lives at risk. The partnerships between federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies were crucial in maintaining community safety and upholding the rule of law. ICE Boston was also involved in the operation, aiming to remove illegal alien offenders from New England neighborhoods.
