Bruins extend losing streak to five with loss to Sharks, who are in last place

The San Jose Sharks defeated the Boston Bruins 3-1 on Saturday night, with Lucas Carlsson scoring the game-winning goal with 3:23 left in the game. William Eklund and Barclay Goodrow also scored for the Sharks, while Casey Mittelstadt scored the lone goal for the Bruins. Alexander Georgiev made 22 saves for San Jose, while Joonas Korpisalo had 19 saves for Boston.

Eklund scored his 16th goal of the season in the second period, matching his career high, to give the Sharks a 1-0 lead. Mittelstadt tied the game for Boston later in the period, but Carlsson’s goal put the Sharks back in front. Goodrow sealed the win with an empty-net goal.

The Bruins have now lost five straight games, dimming their playoff hopes as they have dropped 22 of their last 33 games since December. The Sharks, on the other hand, have won two of their last four games after struggling with a 7-27-4 record since December 5.

A key moment in the game was Mittelstadt’s goal for Boston, breaking a long scoreless drought for the Bruins. Sharks rookie defenseman Luca Cagnoni also earned his first NHL point with an assist on Eklund’s goal.

The Bruins will face the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday, while the Sharks will host the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday. Fans interested in sports betting in Massachusetts can check out the state’s sports betting guide to learn more about terminology, odds, and how to place bets.
