Pennsylvania teen Lucas Lembck, 19, was charged for handing a stranger a bomb threat with a Starburst candy as a “prank” at an Urban Outfitters in Boston. The incident occurred on March 18, with Lembck allegedly passing a note to the victim that said, “I have a bomb don’t say a (expletive) word.” Lembck was arraigned on one count of bomb/hijack threat and released on personal recognizance.
Suffolk DA Kevin Hayden condemned the act, stating that such reckless actions cause fear and have consequences. Boston Police responded to the incident and identified Lembck through security cameras. Lembck admitted to passing the note as a prank, believing that the victim would know it was not serious.
Lembck is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing on April 14. The DA’s office emphasized the seriousness of making bomb threats, even as jokes, and urged individuals to think before engaging in such behavior. The victim was unharmed, but the incident caused fear and alarm in the busy city.
