A family in northern Indiana rescued their dog just moments before a tornado ripped through their backyard earlier this month. The father and son rushed outside to bring the dog to safety, and their Ring camera captured the close call as the tornado destroyed the dog’s kennel and a storage shed. The tornado, classified as an EF-1 with winds reaching 110 mph, hit Gary, Indiana, affecting over 67,000 residents.
This tornado was part of a series of severe weather events that swept through the Mississippi Valley and the South, resulting in at least 40 deaths and significant structural damage in multiple states. Severe weather continued in Indiana with heavy downpours and hail.
Meanwhile, on the West Coast, forecasters predicted possible tornadoes in the Pacific Northwest as another weather system approached. Heavy showers, severe thunderstorms, and strong wind gusts were expected, with up to 2 inches of hail possible in the region. The system was forecasted to move towards the Northern Rockies and Southern California by Thursday evening, bringing more stormy weather.
