The Boston Red Sox suffered a 6-2 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays at Fenway Park on Monday night. George Springer led the Blue Jays with three RBI singles, while José Berríos pitched seven strong innings. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. also had a successful game, scoring a run after signing a massive contract with Toronto.
The Red Sox had their five-game winning streak snapped after coming off a doubleheader sweep over St. Louis. Rafael Devers and Triston Casas contributed with a sacrifice fly and an RBI single, respectively.
Despite the cold and misty conditions, both teams put on a competitive performance. The Blue Jays’ offense was too much for the Red Sox to handle, as they capitalized on their opportunities throughout the game.
The game also saw Red Sox catcher Connor Wong leave with a bruised hand, while Guerrero narrowly avoided a foul ball before scoring a key run.
With Garrett Crochet set to make his first Fenway start for the Red Sox on Tuesday, both teams will look to bounce back from their previous performances.
