T’s editor in chief, Hanya Yanagihara, annually commissions an artist or designer to create an installation at Villa Necchi Campiglio in Milan to celebrate the Salone del Mobile design fair. This year, sculptor Misha Kahn designed a vibrant display of oversized inflatables to contrast the building’s Rationalist architecture. Named and adorned with colorful fabrics by Dedar, the sculptures added a whimsical touch to the elegant setting. Kahn, known for his experimental designs, showcased his unique aesthetic during the event, alongside displaying his new homewares line, Abject.
Guests like Hermès creative director Nadège Vanhée and Jil Sander creative director Simone Bellotti enjoyed Italian summer vibes with drinks from Il Pellicano bartenders and Thai-Italian snacks by chef Rose Chalalai Singh. As the evening progressed, spotlights illuminated Kahn’s sculptures, creating a magical ambiance. The party concluded with sweet treats from Sant Ambroeus and skincare brand Humanrace’s refreshing shots, leaving guests with custom Dedar fabric tote bags filled with gifts for the week ahead.
Kahn’s bold design elements, the fusion of diverse cuisines, and the mix of high-end and playful elements made for a memorable and enchanting evening. The event successfully combined art, design, fashion, and culinary experiences in a unique and visually stunning setting, setting the tone for the upcoming Milan Design Week.
