Southwick Regional High School’s baseball team had a remarkable 22-6 victory over Amherst-Pelham on Friday, starting the game with a 13-run first inning. The team’s explosive offense was highlighted by key hits from players like Hudson Maymon, Donovan Cummings, and Alex Trzasko, and amplified by Amherst-Pelham defensive errors. Eighth-grade pitcher Andell Novak started on the mound for Southwick.
In another baseball matchup, Westfield triumphed over Taconic with an 8-3 win, powered by a five-run third inning. Patrick Moore led the charge for Westfield with a home run, while pitcher Jackson LaValley struck out 11 batters over seven innings.
In girls lacrosse action, Westfield avenged an earlier loss with a 14-13 victory over Agawam. Milana Shuman led Westfield with five goals, while Isabella Spaulding and Olivia Govani each scored three goals for Agawam. East Longmeadow also secured a win over Westfield, with Adelaide Jordan scoring six goals and causing the Bombers to suffer a 15-4 defeat.
In boys volleyball, Southwick continued their winning streak with a 3-0 victory over Granby, bringing their record to 6-2 for the season. Notable performances came from players like Nicolas Spina, Phong Tran, and River Thompson, with contributions from Caleb Gaudet, Tyce Wilson, Zachariah Frailey, and Braeden Iglesias.
