19-year-old Peabody resident Connor Gray has thrown his hat into the ring for the 2026 Massachusetts gubernatorial election, running as an independent candidate. Gray, an aspiring rap artist, decided to enter the race after feeling a spiritual calling to make a difference in politics and bring about change.
In an interview with NBC10 Boston, Gray outlined his platform, which includes addressing the state’s housing crisis, eliminating the state income tax, and proposing a state-run space program. He believes that Massachusetts should be run like a business and positioned as a leader in innovation.
Despite his age and ongoing pursuit of a GED, Gray is aware that he may face skepticism from voters. However, he is determined to prove himself and believes that his outsider status and connection to everyday citizens will resonate with voters.
To qualify for the ballot, Gray must collect 10,000 signatures from registered Massachusetts voters. Once this threshold is met, he will officially file his nomination papers at Peabody City Hall.
Gray’s unconventional candidacy has garnered attention and raised eyebrows in the political sphere. As the youngest gubernatorial candidate in the race, his campaign is sure to be one to watch leading up to the 2026 election.
