Patriots Select Kobee Minor as Mr. Irrelevant in the 2025 NFL Draft
In a surprising turn of events during the 2025 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots selected Kobee Minor, a cornerback who was largely overlooked until now. Ranked as the 127th cornerback in Dane Brugler’s draft guide, Minor’s journey has been anything but conventional.
Patriots executive vice president of player personnel, Eliot Wolf, stated that Minor’s late transfer to Memphis after stints at Texas Tech and Indiana may have contributed to his under-the-radar status. Despite facing a hamstring injury, Minor showcased impressive movement skills and competitiveness during pre-draft evaluations, drawing positive feedback from scouts.
His college statistics reveal potential: in 2024, Minor allowed 21 catches on 39 targets, with three pass breakups, while in 2023, he recorded 18 catches allowed and four breakups. Though he never intercepted a pass, Wolf believes Minor can adapt to play both inside and outside in the NFL. “We’re excited to add him to our roster,” Wolf added. For Minor, becoming Mr. Irrelevant is a unique milestone, marking the beginning of what could be a promising career in professional football.
