Press Release: Mauna Loa Recalls Dark Chocolate Covered Macadamias Due to Allergy Risk

Kea’au, Hawaii – Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Company has issued a recall of its Mauna Loa Dark Chocolate Covered Macadamias due to the presence of undeclared almonds and cashews, posing a serious risk for those with allergies. The recall affects both 0.6 ounce and 4 ounce bags, which were distributed across multiple states, including Maine, Arizona, California, Florida, and others.

The FDA has identified specific lot numbers for the affected products: the 0.6 ounce bags with UPC 0 72992 05464 4 (lot numbers K5069C1 and K5069C2), and the 4 ounce bags with UPC 0 72992 05556 6 (lot numbers B4339E1 and B4340E1). The best by dates for the recalled items are October 2026 and July 2026, respectively.

While no allergic reactions have been reported, the FDA advises consumers with almond or cashew allergies to avoid these products and return them for a full refund. In a statement, Mauna Loa expressed regret over the incident and reaffirmed their commitment to product safety and quality.
