Concord Police Probe Fraudulent GoFundMe Campaign for Car Crash Victim

Community Shocked by Fraudulent Fundraiser Following Tragic Accident

Concord, MA – A fraudulent GoFundMe campaign, claiming to raise funds for the funeral costs of a Concord-Carlisle High School senior who died in a Florida car crash, has prompted an ongoing police investigation. Following the tragic accident on Monday night, which claimed the lives of Jimmy McIntosh and Hannah Wasserman, and left their classmate Maisey O’Donnell critically injured, the unauthorized fundraiser allegedly collected over $8,000 before being shut down.

Superintendent Laurie Hunter confirmed that the campaign did not have the approval of Wasserman’s family and was reported to GoFundMe. The platform’s representatives assured that all donations were securely held and later refunded, noting that the organizer never had access to the funds.

“As a community, our hearts are heavy after this tragedy,” said Hunter, emphasizing the need for safe and verified fundraising efforts in times of grief. The two occupants of the truck involved in the collision were unharmed. The school community is mourning the loss of their peers, with students taking to social media to honor McIntosh, Wasserman, and O’Donnell. The investigation continues as families and friends seek healing after this devastating event.
