When Drake Maye was navigating his high school years at Myers Park in Charlotte, NFL star Stefon Diggs was making waves, recording his first 1,000-yard season. As Maye prepared to graduate, Diggs solidified his reputation with All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors, becoming a figure that inspired the young quarterback. Maye fondly reminisces about having Diggs on his fantasy football team while engaging in Madden gameplay, envisioning the thrill of throwing to the celebrated receiver.
This fall, that dream materializes as Diggs joins the New England Patriots following significant rehabilitation from a torn ACL. “It’s pretty cool to hopefully now in-season throw to him,” Maye expressed, appreciating Diggs’ extensive experience. The Patriots are eager to leverage Diggs, who caught 47 passes for 496 yards last season, as a primary offensive weapon.
Striving to revamp their offense after a lackluster year, the Patriots have added Diggs, veteran Mack Hollins, and rookie Kyle Williams, while also enhancing their offensive line and bringing in dynamic running back Treveyon Henderson.
