Weather Alert: Rain and Thunder Expected Across Massachusetts
Massachusetts is bracing for potential scattered showers and thunderstorms starting Thursday night as a warm front moves through southern New England. The National Weather Service predicts that after a sunny Thursday with temperatures hitting the high 60s to low 70s (and coastal areas experiencing highs in the high 50s to low 60s), instability may lead to brief rain and thunder, with possible downpours accumulating up to 1.5 inches of precipitable water. Overnight lows are expected to range from the mid-40s to low 50s.
Friday morning should see the rain clearing, followed by another warm day with highs approaching 80 degrees. However, the afternoon may still experience spot showers or isolated thunderstorms, particularly in Western Massachusetts where rain could intensify towards nightfall. Saturday is projected to deliver a significant washout, with afternoon rain accumulating between 0.6 and 0.8 inches, moving eastward into the evening and tapering off by Sunday morning. Daytime temperatures are expected to linger between the mid-60s along the coast and mid-70s inland, with little sunshine anticipated throughout the weekend. Residents are advised to prepare for wet conditions ahead.
