Green Day Honored with Hollywood Walk of Fame Star Amid New Slurpee Launch
Hollywood, CA – May 1, 2025 – In a celebration of their enduring legacy, rock band Green Day received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, marking 38 years since the trio of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool formed the band. During the ceremony, the musicians reflected on their journey and expressed gratitude for the recognition.
Following the event, the band teamed up with 7-Eleven to launch their new Kerplunk Kandy Grape Slurpee at a pop-up event in Hollywood. "I had a lot of things that tasted like Slurpees," teased bassist Dirnt, while Cool and Armstrong shared light-hearted moments reminiscing about their friendship and past experiences.
Green Day, known for their five Grammy wins and 19 nominations, also revisited their 1991 album Kerplunk, which was pivotal in defining their sound. "We did it in three days… with a $1,200 budget," Armstrong recalled. "It’s a record that’s been around for a long time and we still play songs off it." The band acknowledged fan favorites like “One of My Lies” and “Christie Road,” highlighting their lasting impact.
With fresh excitement from headlining Coachella, Armstrong announced upcoming performances at BottleRock, Riot Fest, and Ohana Festival, as well as a tour in South America. "We’re always working on new music," he added, indicating that the future remains bright for the iconic band.
The limited-time Kerplunk Kandy Grape Slurpee is now available at 7-Eleven, and fans in Los Angeles are invited to visit the speakeasy pop-up on May 3 and 4 for a taste of nostalgia.
