Red Sox Rookie Kristian Campbell Returns to Lineup, Set to Bat Cleanup

BOSTON – The Boston Red Sox are welcoming back rookie Kristian Campbell, who returns to the lineup for today’s series finale against the Minnesota Twins after missing three games due to rib discomfort. For the first time in his Major League Baseball career, Campbell will bat cleanup, a strategic move by manager Alex Cora to place a stronger bat in the heart of the order.

Cora noted pre-game that the decision to bat Campbell higher in the lineup was aimed at capitalizing on his potential, stating, “Just trying something different, putting all those at-bats together is going to help.” While Cora hasn’t confirmed if this will be a permanent shift, he hinted at the possibility.

Today’s game will also feature Garrett Crochet, boasting a strong 2.05 ERA, making his eighth start of the season after a solid outing in Toronto. The Twins will counter with right-hander Chris Paddack, who is still seeking his first win of the season.

Trevor Story will sit out to reset his performance, giving way to David Hamilton at shortstop. The game is set for 1:35 p.m. at Fenway Park, with broadcast coverage available on NESN and various radio outlets.
