Triston Casas Undergoes Knee Surgery After Season-Ending Injury
Boston, MA — Triston Casas, the first baseman for the Boston Red Sox, is facing a challenging recovery after sustaining a season-ending torn patellar tendon. The injury occurred on May 2 during a game against the Minnesota Twins when Casas collapsed while sprinting to first base. Following the injury, he was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital, where a successful surgery to repair the tendon was performed by Dr. Eric Berkson.
Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow confirmed that the 25-year-old infielder would not return for the remainder of the 2025 season. The loss of Casas is felt deeply by the team, as he not only contributes significantly on the field but also provides a strong presence in the clubhouse. "It’s a big loss," Breslow remarked.
