Brandeis University Offers Scholarships to Laid-off Federal Workers
Waltham, MA – In a significant move aimed at supporting recently laid-off federal employees, Brandeis University has announced full scholarships for its Hornstein Jewish Professional Leadership Program. This initiative was highlighted in a Monday announcement from Liora Norwich, the program’s director, who expressed that these scholarships honor the dedication of individuals who have served the public. The program is designed to help participants explore new leadership roles within the Jewish community.
This initiative comes in the wake of substantial layoffs resulting from departmental consolidations under the Trump administration, notably affecting the Department of Education. Eligible applicants must have been laid off or received written layoff notices since January 1, 2025. The program allows students to pair their Hornstein degree with either a Master of Public Policy or a Master of Business Administration.
Applications for the Fall 2025 semester are now open, with a deadline of July 1 for scholarship consideration. However, admission does not guarantee scholarship award. The program will only accept two students to foster an intimate learning environment, making this a unique opportunity for those seeking to transition to new careers.
