Community Support Initiatives Address Mental Health and Grief Needs

HOLYOKE, MA – Several local organizations are hosting virtual and in-person support groups aimed at assisting individuals and families facing mental health challenges and grief.

The Holyoke FTD Caregiver’s Support Group will meet virtually on May 13 from 4 to 5 p.m. This gathering is designed to support caregivers of those with Frontotemporal Degeneration, a rare form of dementia primarily affecting individuals under 60. Rick’s Place in Wilbraham is providing free peer grief support for youths aged 5-18 and their caregivers, allowing families to connect and share memories of lost loved ones. For enrollment, contact info@ricksplacema.org or call 413-279-2010.

NAMI Western Massachusetts will host its 25th Annual Walkathon on May 18 at Stanley Park, while virtual support groups for various demographics continue to meet, including sessions specifically for the LGBTQIA+ community and families of those with mental health conditions.
