Massachusetts Forward Party Takes Steps Toward Establishment at First Convention
Waltham, MA – The Massachusetts Forward Party is gaining momentum, hosting its inaugural convention this past Sunday with around 100 attendees. Led by former Lt. Gov. Kerry Healey, the gathering focused on electing officers, setting bylaws, and laying the groundwork for a state party platform.
Newly-appointed state Chair Spencer Morin Reynolds, who has been involved with the party since its early stages, expressed his excitement about the journey ahead. "We’re trying to fix our politics. And our politics is broken in America," he stated.
During the convention, the party elected Sean Diamond as vice-chair, alongside At-Large Executive Committee members Keoni Aricayos, Cole Nardone, Max Asker, and Mark Warner, a former mayoral candidate from Northampton. Despite not being an official party yet—having received political designation just last year—Reynolds is optimistic about achieving full party status within three-and-a-half years.
"This is a lofty goal, to be sure," he acknowledged. In the interim, Reynolds emphasized the need for "good people" to run for office under the Forward banner. "We’re looking for individuals more interested in serving their communities than their party," he added.
Ultimately, the Forward Party aims to provide a viable alternative to Massachusetts voters, challenging the dominance of the existing one-party system. "When you go to vote and know no matter what you choose, one party gets to pick everything, that’s not a choice," Reynolds asserted.
As the Forward Party continues to grow, it positions itself as a new voice in Massachusetts politics, striving to offer citizens a fresh perspective and genuine choices at the ballot box.
