ORLANDO, Fla. — A high-octane clash in MLS saw Orlando City’s Martín Ojeda net a remarkable hat trick, but it wasn’t enough to secure victory as the New England Revolution rallied to a dramatic 3-3 draw on Saturday night.
Ojeda opened the scoring with a left-footed shot from the left side of the box, his 49th career goal, before quickly adding his 50th with another impressive strike, putting Orlando ahead 2-0. However, New England responded strongly; Alhassan Yusuf found the net in the 38th minute, followed by a header from Matt Polster just before halftime, leveling the match at 2-2.
In the second half, Ojeda converted a penalty kick in the 55th minute, marking his seventh goal of the season and lifting his career tally to 51 goals. Yet, New England’s Carles Gil matched him with a late penalty kick of his own in the 85th minute to secure a point for the visitors, who had been on a four-match winning streak, all by shutout.
Despite the draw, both teams showed resilience: Orlando City extended their unbeaten streak to eight matches, which includes four previous shutouts. New England, despite the setback, managed to maintain their strong form, sitting on 17 points from 11 matches.
This encounter highlights the competitive edge of the league, showcasing both teams’ attacking and defensive prowess, setting the stage for an exciting remainder of the season. Fans eagerly await their next matches, hoping for more thrilling performances.
