Naomi Judd’s Widow Reveals Shocking Truth in New Docuseries
Larry Strickland, the widower of country music legend Naomi Judd, has confirmed a shocking incident from their marriage in the Lifetime docuseries "The Judd Family: Truth Be Told." Strickland, 79, revealed that Judd shot him with a gun after discovering his infidelity, a moment that mirrors a scene from her 1995 film "Naomi & Wynonna: Love Can Build a Bridge."
Strickland stated, “Well, it really happened. That’s all I can say. That’s all I’m gonna say. It happened.” The docuseries also features a voiceover from Judd’s 1993 memoir which discusses the couple’s passionate love and the chaos triggered by Strickland’s infidelities.
Their tumultuous relationship saw its share of ups and downs. Judd recounted an incident from the 1980s when a woman called their Nashville home, professing love for Strickland. Upon his return, an emotional Judd reportedly destroyed photographs and tossed his belongings outside.
The couple met in 1979 and married a decade later, remaining together until Judd’s tragic death from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in April 2022. Strickland disclosed that Judd’s final months were “chaotic,” as she faced significant mental health challenges, a struggle he admitted he wasn’t fully aware of until it was too late.
Reflecting on those last days, Strickland wishes he had focused more on comfort rather than pushing her to eat and exercise. “I just feel like I might have overdone it,” he shared.
