Mass. Weather: Rain Expected Wednesday with Rising Humidity

Rain Returns to Massachusetts After Warm Dry Spell

After a period of dry and warm weather, rain is expected to return to Massachusetts starting Wednesday. The morning began with clouds and a potential for patchy fog, especially in the Boston area and southeastern region, according to the National Weather Service. Early temperatures ranged from the mid-40s to mid-50s, with cooler conditions in Western Massachusetts.

As the day progresses, temperatures may rise into the mid-70s in Central and Eastern Massachusetts and the 60s out west. However, forecasters predict a deterioration in weather conditions as rain moves in. Light showers are anticipated to develop in Western Massachusetts by late morning, gradually spreading eastward, reaching Central and Eastern areas by mid to late afternoon.

Showers may linger overnight, potentially bringing up to a quarter-inch of rain and occasional thunder near the Connecticut border, with temperatures remaining in the upper 50s. Thursday is anticipated to feel humid for mid-May, featuring intermittent rain and dry spells, with temperatures varying based on cloud cover. A small risk for thunderstorms could persist into Friday and Saturday, according to NOAA forecasts.
