Jaybeau Jones Returns to WROR After Year Off
Jaybeau Jones is back on Boston airwaves, hosting weekday afternoons at 105.7 WROR, a year after being laid off by Beasley Media Group. “Sometimes, you can come home,” Jones expressed, sharing his excitement about returning to the classic hits station where he spent a decade. Cadillac Jack, WROR’s programming director, welcomed Jones back, emphasizing his unique ability to connect with listeners. “Having him back just feels right,” said Scott Morello, assistant program director.
Jones was let go last May during significant layoffs at Beasley Media Group that affected about 7% of its workforce. Amid these changes, WROR’s sister station, 98.5 The Sports Hub, has also faced challenges, including cuts to its betting show. Beasley Media Group reported a revenue decline of 10.1% in the first quarter of this year, totaling $48.9 million, and an operating loss of $2 million.
CEO Caroline Beasley highlighted the company’s ongoing transformation and the growth of its digital revenue, which now constitutes over 20% of total earnings. As Beasley navigates economic hurdles, Jones’s comeback symbolizes hope for the station’s future and its connection with the Boston audience.
