New York—In a poignant moment for the Boston Celtics, superstar Jayson Tatum paid a heartfelt visit to his teammates at their hotel, just days after undergoing surgery for a ruptured Achilles’ tendon. Despite his injury, Tatum’s spirits remained high, providing an emotional boost to the team as they prepared for a crucial Game 6 against the New York Knicks.
Teammate Payton Pritchard shared, “It was really good seeing him… He seemed like he was in really good spirits.” The Celtics are rallying to keep their playoff hopes alive, having secured a decisive 127-102 victory in Game 5, showing resilience in Tatum’s absence. Pritchard emphasized a shift in their gameplay, highlighting a faster pace and more collaborative ball movement without their leading scorer.
While the focus remains on winning for Tatum, the players are also leaning on their camaraderie. Forward Sam Hauser noted, “It sucks to see someone like that go down who doesn’t deserve it, but he wouldn’t want anything more than us to just keep winning.” As the Celtics aim for victory in Game 6, they carry Tatum’s spirit with them into battle.
