Boston Welcomes Six New Priests in Historic Ordination Ceremony

Boston’s Cathedral of the Holy Cross was filled with joy on Saturday as Archbishop Richard G. Henning ordained six new priests, marking the first such ceremony since his appointment last October. “I give thanks to God for this joyful duty of ordaining these six men to the priesthood of Jesus Christ,” Archbishop Henning declared.

The new priests are Father Vincenzo Caruso, 32, from Naples, Italy; Father Brian Robert Daley, 37, from Old Saybrook, Connecticut; Father Joseph Thuy Van Nguyen, 37, from Nam Dinh, Vietnam; Father Mateus Oliveira Martin, 34, from São Paulo, Brazil; Father Peter Dong Huy Pham, 29, from Hanoi, Vietnam; and Father Brian Thomas Delaney.

They expressed gratitude for the support they’ve received along their journey, acknowledging their families, seminaries, and the Archbishop for their encouragement. They stated in the program, “We, your newly ordained Priests of Jesus Christ of the Archdiocese of Boston, wish to extend our gratitude to you for your presence here today and for your prayers.”

The solemn ceremony included moments of prayer and reflection, highlighting the significance of their commitment to serve their communities.
