Press Release: Diverse Support Programs Now Available in Western Massachusetts

WILBRAHAM – Rick’s Place is offering free peer grief support groups for youth ages 5-18 and their caregivers, created in memory of Rick Thorpe, a 9/11 victim. The groups foster community and healing for families in Western Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut. Interested participants can contact Rick’s Place at info@ricksplacema.org or 413-279-2010.

In Palmer, Baystate Health is launching virtual cancer support groups led by social worker Camille St. Onge. These gatherings include various specialized support sessions and are funded by the Walk of Champions.

In Holyoke, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI-WM) is holding online recovery support groups on Mondays and Wednesdays. Notably, a new Family and Friends Support Group for Black and Brown communities will meet monthly.

NAMI also announces the return of its Family Support Group in Greenfield, providing a safe space for families to connect.

Meanwhile, a grief support group at Saint Rose de Lima in Chicopee meets weekly, while a stroke support group at Springfield College offers virtual sessions facilitated by professionals.

For those dealing with substance-use issues, the Michael J. Dias Foundation hosts meetings in Ludlow.
