Red Sox Defeat Mets 3-1 with Strong Showing from Duran
BOSTON (AP) — In a gripping matchup Monday night, the Boston Red Sox triumphed over the New York Mets, earning a 3-1 victory thanks to the impressive performance of outfielder Jarren Duran. Duran showcased his skills with a double and a triple, contributing significantly to the team’s offensive power against Mets ace Kodai Senga, who allowed three runs—his highest this season.
Senga, now 4-3, struggled early in the game, quickly falling behind 3-0. He settled down in later innings, retiring the last seven batters he faced. His five-strikeout performance was marred by five hits and three walks.
On the pitching side, Red Sox starter Hunter Dobbins held the Mets to just one run, despite allowing five hits. The Sox struck first in the bottom of the first inning, with Duran scoring after his double, followed by Trevor Story’s single to extend the lead. Duran’s triple in the second solidified Boston’s advantage. The Mets managed a lone run courtesy of Tyrone Taylor’s single in the third.
In the ninth, Aroldis Chapman earned his seventh save of the season. The Red Sox are set to face the Mets again on Tuesday night, with a probable start for RHP Walker Buehler.
