The fire was reported around 3:45 a.m., with firefighters arriving shortly after to find heavy flames engulfing the 2½-story building. Strong winds initially fueled the blaze, but conditions improved as the wind calmed, allowing approximately a dozen firefighters to bring the fire under control within two hours. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

Union Fire District Chief Steve Pinch indicated that the extent of the damage was severe and suggested that rebuilding may be necessary. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the state Fire Marshals Office.

Established in 2009 as an extension of a local oyster farming venture, the restaurant offers a diverse menu, including fresh oysters, lobster rolls, and a notable wine selection.

Public sentiment following the fire has been one of heartbreak, with many expressing fond memories of the iconic establishment, which has been a cherished part of Rhode Island’s culinary landscape.
