Kid Cudi to Testify in Diddy’s Sex Trafficking Trial
NEW YORK (AP) — Rapper Kid Cudi, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, is scheduled to testify Thursday in the ongoing sex trafficking trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs, following the testimony of George Kaplan, a former personal assistant to the music mogul. The prosecution indicated that Cudi’s testimony may be brief.
Last week, R&B singer Cassie, who dated Combs for nearly 11 years, claimed he threatened Cudi’s safety upon learning of their brief relationship in 2011. Combs, 55, has pleaded not guilty to sex trafficking and racketeering charges, stemming from allegations in a lawsuit filed by Cassie, which he settled for $20 million shortly after.
In her testimony, Cassie recounted years of alleged abuse, including being subjected to degrading sexual performances. She cited an email sent to her mother in late 2011, warning that Combs planned to release compromising videos of her and harm her and Cudi.
Kaplan, who worked for Combs from 2013 to 2015, described a hostile work environment characterized by intense demands and threats. His experiences reflect a broader pattern of behavior that several witnesses have noted in the ongoing trial.
