Latin Academy Claims Title in Boston City League Boys Volleyball Championship

BOSTON – A new champion has emerged in the Boston City League boys volleyball arena, as Latin Academy achieved a decisive 3-0 victory over defending champions O’Bryant at Emmanuel College. This match echoed last year’s championship showdown, where O’Bryant made a dramatic comeback. However, Latin Academy prevailed this time with set scores of 25-22, 25-19, and 25-20.

Fueled by standout performances from team captain Otavio Perks, with 13 kills, and setter Max Dong, contributing 25 assists, Latin Academy showcased a synchronized team effort. Coach Nick Mone praised his players for stepping up and focusing on "one point at a time" throughout the intense match.

On the other side, O’Bryant faced a setback when outside hitter Louis Chiu left the game due to injury. Despite this, O’Bryant’s players displayed remarkable resilience. Libero Tri Duong of Latin Academy earned the game’s MVP award for his defensive prowess, stating, "My job is to never let the ball hit the ground.”

With this victory, Latin Academy moves forward to the Division 2 state tournament, eager to build on their success and target further titles. Coach Mone emphasized, “We’re not done yet; we’re out for redemption.”
