Press Release: Lowell Red Raiders Capture MVC Title Amidst Transition
LOWELL, MA — The Lowell boys volleyball team, under the guidance of head coach Paul McCarthy and assistant Brandon Seng, has successfully reclaimed the Merrimack Valley Conference (MVC) title this season after an impressive 16-2 record. Following a season marked by the graduation of 14 seniors, the team faced skepticism about their ability to compete. They initiated their routine every Saturday, combining intense physical training with skill development, which junior setter Vitou Seng credits as a pivotal factor in their success.
Facing competition that often extended into tense fourth and fifth sets, the Red Raiders demonstrated resilience, finishing the season with a commendable 9-2 record in matches that went beyond three sets. Notable performances included a comeback against Methuen and a decisive win over MVC favorite Chelmsford. With players like Seng and libero Logan Uy leading the way, the team has showcased their determination and skill.
As the state tournament approaches, Lowell aims to continue proving their doubters wrong. Coach McCarthy expressed pride in the team’s unity and commitment, stating, "These kids have put so much enthusiasm into their work." The Red Raiders are poised for a strong postseason run, looking to build on their recent successes.
